Encuentro por la justicia del agua en Toronto >>
The Blue Planet Project and allies are organizing a Water Justice Gathering that will take place this September 8-11 in Toronto.
It will bring together policy and advocacy groups and activists from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa working on water justice issues. The goal of the meeting is to create a strategic and coordinated 3-5 year plan to counter the corporate takeover of water resources and promote public water for all.
Over the past decade, the global water justice movement has worked to bring human rights, social justice, indigenous, peasant and environmental organizations and movements together in the fight for water justice. This movement has proven to be enormously effective in fighting for local control of water systems and countering the propaganda of corporations, international financial institutions and governments promoting a neoliberal agenda for solving the world’s water crisis. Despite our incredible successes, we now find ourselves in a crucial moment to stand back, take stock of where we are and where we are going, and renew our commitment not only to this work but to the next generation of goals.
Some sessions will be accessible online via webinar. Sessions will be streamed on:
Monday, September 8, 10:00 am –12:30pm EST
Tuesday September 9, 9:00- 1:00 pm EST
Thursday September 11, 10:00 am –12:30 pm EST
